Our chair of trustees has been awarded an OBE for his exceptional leadership of the Anne Frank Trust UK

We are absolutely delighted that Daniel Mendoza has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. The announcement has been made today, exactly 92 years since the birth of Anne Frank on 12 June 1929.

The citation states that the honour is “for services to education in challenging prejudice and discrimination”. Daniel has been an Anne Frank trustee since 2003 and chair since 2011. Under his leadership the charity’s annual income has grown by 79% and the number of young people we reach has risen by 145%. During Daniel’s tenure, we have empowered over 70,000 young people to recognise and challenge prejudice, raised over £11 million of funding, and become a national trailblazer in robustly researched evidence of impact.

Our Chief Executive, Tim Robertson, says: “Daniel is an outstanding role model of charity leadership with proven impact. He is not only highly skilled, insightful and very hard-working, but wonderfully warm, kind and greatly loved by everyone involved in the Anne Frank Trust. His hugely well-earned OBE is a tremendous pleasure for all of us.”

Daniel is co-founder and Director of property investment agents Ereira Mendoza. He and his wife Michelle live in north London, and have two adult children, Jack and Evie.

Daniel says:

“It really is extremely humbling to receive this recognition and I’m clear I do so on behalf of all the staff, trustees and supporters of the Trust. I feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to work with and learn over the years from so many people in this charity I love. I believe the single biggest issue that will define the future of humanity is whether we can create a world in which our differences make no difference, and The Anne Frank Trust is at the vanguard of both highlighting and alchemising this aspiration. Ultimately this honour belongs to all our young people who hold this ideal and dream close to their hearts.”

Join us in an online celebration on the evening of Thursday 24 June to congratulate Daniel. Please email our Events Manager, Chantelle Morgan to RSVP Chantelle@annefrank.org.uk
